“Err is human”.
We understand that us, humans, we are not perfect and we make mistakes. And we tend to forgive and be understanding with other people errors, specially when the mistakes come from our beloved ones.
We are told to be forgiving and kind with others, but we are rarely told to be kind on ourself first.
And that is self-compassion, the willingness to look at your own mistakes with kindness and understanding, you don’t judge yourself harshly, neither feel the need to focus on all your awesome qualities to protect your ego and self-esteem.
Many studies suggests that giving ourselves a break and accepting our imperfections could be the first step towards a better health because high self-compassion is related with low depression and anxiety, so one self-compationate person would tend to be happier, more relaxed and more optimistic.
Oh, and the studies also say that being kind on yourself will help even to lose weight!
